Relay For Life

Relay for Life-Torch Relay (Run For Gold)

WHO AM I

Lim Shyang Guey (known as SG), born in Penang and aged 66, is set to embark on a run of a lifetime—an extraordinary journey fueled by love, shaped by loss, and driven by a profound purpose to inspire change and make a meaningful difference in the lives of others.

THE MISSION

This journey – “Run for Gold” – is about pushing oneself to be your very best while supporting children in their fight against cancer. Gold Ribbon is the universal symbol for childhood cancer awareness, representing the preciousness of children and symbolizing the courage, strength, and resilience of those affected by cancer.

THE PLAN

The plan is to run approximately 25–35 km daily, with rest days in between, while staying primarily at homestays with hosts or in shared accommodations. This approach allows for meaningful engagement with communities, including sharing messages and hearing personal stories related to cancer experiences. When stopping at major towns, events will be organized in collaboration with local communities, the National Cancer Society of Malaysia (NCSM), as well as its supporters, caregivers, and survivors. Based on the expected daily distances, the journey is anticipated to be completed within approximately 90 days. The run will commence on 28 March 2026 from the NCSM–MPPP Home of Hope at Rose Avenue in Penang at 10:00 AM, and is expected to conclude before 22 June
